Hi, hello, how are you? And how is it JULY already?
Things have been quiet over here. I’ve been throwing myself (quite literally sometimes it feels like) into teaching. It’s where I’m focusing a lot of my energy these days, but don’t worry I’m not totally ditching this little corner of the internet. But thank you for bearing with me as I figure this balance out 🙂
I have a feeling July is going to be quite the wild and crazy month. Bar Method – Noho is now open (!!!) I’m in a wedding in the middle of the month. And I’m hoping to make it to the beach at least once. Fingers crossed on that one.
Here’s what I’m focusing on for the next month:
✨SLOW DOWN ✨
Is anyone else already anxious about summer going too fast? This happens to me every summer so I really really want to focus on SLOWING DOWN when I can so I can savor the season. This means saying “NO” a lot to things that aren’t a priority in my life right now.
✨ LESS TECHNOLOGY ✨
When I recently updated my phone and realized how much time I was spending on social media holy shit did it shock me. I’ve noticed that the more time I spend on instagram, though, the crappier I tend to feel. I’m challenging myself this month to spend less time attached to my phone (and scrolling instagram.) One way I’m going to do this is by keeping my meals phone-free. Because I live alone and eat most of my meals on my own at home, I tend to spend them scrolling the ‘gram while also watching TV. I’ve legit let my food get cold because I was too busy commenting. Or I’ll miss something funny on Younger because I’m more interested in instagram.
So going forward: No more phones while I eat.
✨ Get Organized ✨
I’m now on a totally new schedule with Bar Method being open. And it’s got me feeling like a total hot mess. Last week I messed up legit 3 deadlines because I wasn’t very organized with my work. Not something I’m proud of. As I’m getting used to this new flow and routine I’m also trying to figure out a better way to be organized with my own business (all things Kayla in the City and instagram related) because clearly what I’ve been doing isn’t working right now.
✨ Be Flexible ✨
I know this month is going to be a bit unpredictable since I’m teaching at a new studio. I am not very good at being flexible — I like my routine and will do everything in my power to stick to it. But this month I know I’m going to have to be more flexible. So I’m telling myself now: don’t freak out about it. Easier said then done, but I’m holding myself to it.

Your turn: What intentions are you setting for July?

Likewise, I’m also trying to be more organized. At the same time, one lesson that I’ve been learning in my late 20s and early 30s is to be more forgiving of myself for my mistakes. Somehow the universe works in a way where everything will just work out.

I need to start writing a list of intentions for the month, I love this idea! I also need to focus on slowing down more.
