✨
Dear Summer,
Please slow down.
Love, Me
✨
Anyone else feel like summer is going back way too fast? Despite the insane heat in NYC this weekend I’m doing my best to soak up summer and savor the season before it becomes chilly again. I’m trying to spend more time outside and less time at my computer responding to emails. Ya feel me?
It’s been a while since I did a little life update and it feels like so much has changed since then. So here’s what’s new and what’s been going down lately:
WORK: I’m nervous to say this, but I’m finally (finally!) starting to feel confident with where things are on the work front. It’s not perfect. I’m not sure if it’s sustainable. And eventually I’ll have to figure out WTF I’m going to do about health insurance…
But right now? It works for me.
- I have 8 permanent yoga classes at Y7
- I have 5 permanent classes at Bar Method – Noho which opened at the end of the month
- Every week I try to pick up a few sub classes at either studio.
- My income from blogging / instagram ebbs and flows but I’ve had a good couple of weeks with consistent partnerships
- And I’m also working front desk at Bar Method. Ain’t no shame in the side hustle game.
At the beginning of 2019 I said my goal was to be a full time yoga teacher / fitness instructor. It’s felt like a slow road to get here, but I am proud to say my income the past few weeks has exceeded that of what I was making at my previous 9-5 job.
[And I am so much happier than I was at that job]
I taught 15 classes this week. While yes, I’m definitely tired after ALL the teaching, I also had quite a few holy moly I love my job moments this week too. There are good days and bad days. Good classes and classes where I feel like a trainwreck. But I feel pretty lucky that even a shitty day of work my job still consists of me wearing yoga pants all day, every day while getting paid to blast Beyonce.
✨
BLOGGING: I’ve been quiet around here lately.
During the warmer months I want to spend as much time as possible outside. I’ve been trying to spend less time sitting on my butt in front of my computer. While I do make some of my income blogging and through instagram partnerships, it’s still a small fraction of my income.
I love blogging and have no plan to stop anytime soon, but during the warm months it’s honestly hard to stay motivated. Instead of forcing it or writing for the sake of writing, I’ve been giving myself permission to be quiet.
And I’m sure for many of you you’re spending more time outside too during these summer months.
✨
INSTAGRAM: I’ve been feeling “meh” about instagram for a little while now.
At one point in my life I thought I wanted to be a full-time blogger / content creator. Okay… there are still moments when I think it’s the direction I’d like to head in. In actuality right now I’m really loving focusing my energy on teaching as my first priority. As a performer teaching lights up my soul in a similar way that acting did growing up for me. I love connecting with my students and having the ability to change the trajectory of someone’s day.
I read a super interesting article on wellness influencers that touches upon something I’ve been feeling as someone in the wellness space lately. There is SO much overwhelming content on wellness on instagram right now. And sometimes I hate feeling like I’m adding to that noise talking about this treatment and that potion.
In actuality my approach to wellness is pretty simple. I try to:
- surround myself with the people I love and that bring out the best in me.
- workout in a way that feels good in my body
- eat in a way that leaves me feeling energized and nourished
- lead a life that fills me with more joy than dread
- take care of myself
These things don’t make for cute instagram posts. And aren’t exactly #sponsor-able. But it’s the truth.
So whenever I start to feel “meh” about instagram I take it as an opportunity to take a step back. Any that’s what I’ve been doing over here.
WHAT I’M WATCHING: Younger – Season 6. Gahhhhh why is this show so good? And I binge watched almost all of Rupaul’s Drag Race season 6 this week.
WHAT I’M READING: The Last Summmer (of You and Me) by Ann Brashares
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: I recently starting listening to Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert. I am OBSESSED and it’s one of the only podcasts I’ve been listening to lately. His interviews are so interesting and I love how vulnerable Dax is with his guests.
I’m also really loving the podcast Gal Pals which feels like a cozy slumber party with your best gal pal.
💗
And you? What’s been going down in your life lately?

love these updates!!! and omgomg i need to catch up on Younger STAT. i’ve been feeling the same way about summer/blogging/instagram lately – i think my approach is to just sort of do what makes me happy and hopefully make money in the process…not the most financially stable attitude (on the blogging front) but at the same time life is meant to be lived, and preferably outdoors when possible!! p.s. SO freaking proud of you for all of your teaching!!!!

this season is younger is SO good so far 😍
And seriously during the summer motivation is a struggle (I think I’d be like that all year ’round in California though since the weather is nicer 🙈)
