Happy Friday 🙂 I was hoping to make it to the beach today… or at least the pool at my parent’s apartment to soak up this last push of summer. The weather had other plans in store for me and instead, it’s pouring here in NYC. So it goes. TBH it’s been a nice excuse to get all cozy in my apartment and catch up on some work.
Here’s what I’ve been loving lately:
this romper from Abercrombie
A SHOCKING amount of my summer dresses + rompers are from Abercrombie. I’m always hesitant to include them in these favorites round-ups because the brand can trigger some people back to high school 😂 but they reallllly are some of my favorite things that I own!
This romper is another Abercrombie win and I’m looking forward to wearing it a few more times before it’s officially COLD in NYC.
this turquoise Lulus Dress.
I cannot tell you how many freaking compliments I get every time I wear this turquoise dress I ordered from Lulus. It’s been my favorite dress to wear this summer for sure.
this cross-body black leather purse from Madewell
[also shown in the above picture]
Literally the day I left for Portugal I decided to impulse buy a new black leather purse. Why not!? I typically use a tote bag as my everyday bag in NYC but wanted something that could zip shut while traveling. It’s big enough that I can carry all the necessities which to me is:
- a water bottle (I have one on me at all times, yay anxiety!)
- my headphones
- phone
- wallet
- keys
- snacks 😂
I love love love this purse from Madewell and am SO happy I ended up buying it.
Madewell also does free monogramming. I’m thinking about bringing it back to get a little something something stamped on it.
a trip to Governors Island
Jeremy and I haven’t been to Governors Island since summer 2016 I’m pretty sure — right before I started grad school. I’m so so happy we were able to squeeze in a trip before it closes for the season.
I’ve talked about the Island before but it’s a short ferry ride away from Manhattan and yet feels like another planet. We spent the day exploring (there’s currently a super cool holographic art exhibit in one of the houses), relaxing and bike riding. I loved every second of our day there.
taking a flying trapeze class.
I’ve been wanting to get back into trapeze — for a solid 5 years of my life I was flying once a week, every single week. Well, it had been over a year since I last flew and I was a bit nervous!

It felt SO good to fly again with Trapeze School New York. Luckily all the movements came back thanks to muscle memory… although I was so so so sore the next day. I ended up flying two weeks in a row, and I’m hoping to make it back before the outdoor rig on the West Side Highway closes for the season. I forgot just how addicting flying is.
What I’m Reading:
Breathe In, Cash Out by Madeleine Henry. I had a hunch I’d love this yoga-centric novel which follows an analyst’s desire to leave the finance world to become a full-time yoga teacher. While my previous career path was as an actor and then in marketing at fitness-focused start-ups, I could still definitely relate to Allegra’s desire to follow her dream of becoming a full-time yoga teacher. I can also relate to the reaction of those around her, it’s not exactly the path you’re “supposed to take” after obtaining an expensive degree.
The book takes some interesting and ridiculous twists and turns and brings up some interesting thoughts on social media yoga celebrities.
✨
Love At First Like by Hannah Orenstein. I’ve been waiting ALL year for this book to finally come out. I was obsessed with Hannah Orenstein’s first novel Playing with Matches. It’s might be the only book I ever read in one day flat.
I also loved Love At First Like… although it did take me more than a day to finish the book. This book follows entrepreneur and trendy jewelry store owner Eliza and what happens when she accidentally posts a photo of her with an engagement ring on to instagram. Not only is it funny and so delightfully New York, but it also poses some serious questions about social media and the life we’re curating on our platforms.
What I’m Watching:
Younger:Â OMG this season of Younger. The finale aired this week and I have SO many feelings about it. If you loved Sex and the City you need to start watching Younger, it is SUCH a gem.
✨
Hercules at the Delacorte Theater:Â Hercules might actually be my favorite Disney movie of all time.
For years I’ve ranted about how it’s preposterous that it’s never been turned into a live stage musical. I’ve discussed my ideal casting of Hercules at length with Jeremy and my brother.
Well, my dreams finally came true — Hercules was brought to life this week at the Delacorte Theater as a part of the Public Theater’s grand finale of summer. To begin with I love seeing shows at the Delacorte theater, to me its the epitome of summer magic. Seeing Hercules there was a whole new level of magic. I must’ve cried at least 10 times…
Maybe the most magical part of all though was sitting behind the man who created the music himself, Alan Menken. I got to witness him totally rock out to Zero to Hero. What can I say, the guy knows he wrote a total bop.
✨
Brittany Runs a Marathon:Â When the PR people for Brittany Runs a Marathon reached out to me about this movie, I knew I had to see it. I wasn’t able to go to any of the events I was invited to, but luckily my friend Leah was game to see the movie.
It brought up SO many feels about running a marathon. If you’ve ever run a marathon, plan to, or have future dreams of running one GO see this movie.
