Hi all, happy Friday! I had a busy busy week of teaching (15 classes in 4 days!) and was hyped to have today totally off.
Besides teaching tomorrow I got nada on the schedule. I’m hoping to sleep-in, devour the book I’m currently reading and maybe get some errands done that I’ve been putting off for a while. We shall see.
Here are some recent favorites from the last few weeks:
My first Book of the Month box!
I’ve been wanting to join Book of the Month but was waiting for the right book to pull me in. The way it works is every month you get to choose one book from 5 carefully curated books. I was intrigued because not only do you get books for a bit cheaper than elsewhere but BOTM also does a lot of advanced releases for books.
I chose Anna K, a modern retelling of Anna Karenina, as my February book. It doesn’t come out until March so I was hyped to get my hands on it early. I’ll decide if it’s worth it to me each month, but I have a feeling I will be really excited to read at least one of the picks every month.
You can get your first book for only $5 by using this link. That’s cheaper than an iced soy vanilla latte at Starbucks. I would know!
A Pink + Gold Manicure
I’m still really using my Glosslab membership for weekly manicures and pedicures. I’ve been a member for a year now and it’s been well worth it financially. They’re opening a new location soon in Noho super close to Bar Method — YASSS.
This week I really loved this light pink + gold combo, both colors from Dazzle Dry. Sometimes it feels good to be just a little bit extra, y’know.
the episode of the Bad On Paper podcast about having kids
Ya ever find yourself nodding along while listening to a podcast? That was me during this episode of Bad On Paper with Claire Mazur and Erica Cerulo. I really appreciated the conversation on this episode about choosing to not have kids (and also choosing to have kids). It’s been a hot topic for me to both think about and discuss as of late.
I’ve been wanting to write a blog post about my own decision to [probably] not have kids. It honestly feels like such a beast to fully write about and I’m not sure I’m 100% ready to dive into it yet. This podcast episode really hit home and I thought discussed the decision to not have kids in a thoughtful way I really appreciated. I especially loved hearing this discussion coming from a bunch of females I admire. The episode is worth a listen if you’re also questioning wanting to have kids.
Aerie bathing suits
I’ve desperately needed new bathing suits for a while now. I have a few that have been around since HIGH SCHOOL. We’re talking 12+ years ago! I tried on a bunch from Summersalt which were all super cute but I didn’t love the fit. A few people recommended I check out Aerie for bathing suits and I’m SO happy I did.
I tried on a bunch at the Soho store and ordered a ton of additional styles online. In the end I found a few winners! I’m so excited to debut them in Nicaragua in a little over a week.
My favorite picks:
these sparkly New Balance sneakers from Free People
Sparkly. Sneakers. Need I say more?
A friend of mine sent me a link to the sneakers saying they immediately made her think of me. She wasn’t wrong and I knew I had to buy them. I haven’t had a chance yet to test them out (it’s been SO cold this week in NYC and the only workouts I’ve done are shoeless) but I’d recommend sizing up. I’m usually a 7.5 but preferred the size 8.
my first IGTV
Yesterday I posted my first IGTV!!! In the video I go through the 3 super common form mistakes I see in upward facing dog.
I’ve been wanting to do a yoga focused IGTV for a while now but had a million excuses: My apartment isn’t cute enough to film something. I’m tired. I always look like such a mess after teaching. Yesterday I got home after teaching all morning and thought “You know what today is the day I finally do this thing.” And I recorded it on the spot and edited it right after.
I knew updog had to be the first video — it’s the posture where I see a whole lot of funky form issues in the yoga classes I teach. I hope you watch it and find these tips helpful!
It’s been really fun to see the positive feedback so far and I’m hoping to challenge myself to do a new yoga focused IGTV every Thursday now that I have the afternoons off from work.

First of all your IG TV was awesome. I have terrible form and I know I do that move wrong and it was nice to see it live! Also love the idea of a book of the month club! I will look into it!

We all need little form reminders — I definitely do when I’m taking class 🙈
And I’m SO excited to see what the March picks are for Book Of The Month

I was literally just looking at those Aerie swimsuits, particularly that last one. Without any nearby Aerie stores, I’d love to know how you like it! The Book of the Month box sounds really interesting, too. How cool that you get some early release ones!

I’m excited to wear the new bathing suits next week on vacation! The stores only had a few selections so I ended up ordering a TON of other styles online.
