Over the last few months, I’ve slowly become a mega fan of Glossier and their beauty products. Can I be any more of a millennial?
In recent years I haven’t been crazy about makeup. I’ve never been very “good” at applying makeup and don’t really know WTF I’m doing. Because of this, I’ve pretty much stuck to the same products since high school.
I was really drawn to the fact that Glossier makes makeup application super easy. You can pretty much apply everything with your fingers. With my lack of makeup skills, this is perfect. Their makeup is also subtle. As someone that doesn’t wear a lot of makeup (or any makeup on crazy teaching days), I don’t want to feel like my makeup is wearing me.
I did a big round-up reviewing my first impressions of a bunch of products a few months ago – you can check out that blog post here. Today I wanted to give you an updated review on the products I’m still super obsessed with and use all the time.
Priming Moisturizer
Why I Love It: I love the Priming Moisturizer because it’s really light. My skin tends to be dry more so than oily these days, especially during the winter. I like that this moisturizer does the trick but doesn’t feel super thick. Nothing feels worse to me than feeling like I have a layer of goop on my skin under my makeup, blech. On days when my skin is extra extra dry, I just slather on a bit more.
Sometimes I’ll use it on its own without makeup for some dry skin relief if I’m teaching hot yoga that morning. Overall I feel like it leaves my skin really soft and “glowy” without feeling sticky.
Perfecting Skin Tint
Why I Love It: The Skin Tint is really easy to apply, I just drop a few dots on my cheeks and chin and then rub it in from there. It leaves my skin looking even-toned but without the stark contrast between that cakey feeling of typical foundation. I used to use a Beauty Blender with other foundations and love that I don’t have to worry about bringing a Beauty Blender with me if I’m traveling or doing my make-up on the go.
The Skin Tint doesn’t provide the most intense coverage. My skin has come a long way since my acne struggles in my teens and early 20’s and doesn’t need a lot of coverage more days. If my skin is breaking out a bit more than usual I’ll switch to the Kosas Tinted Face Oil which goes on a bit thicker. Or sometimes I’ll use the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint and then the Milk Flex Foundation Stick for a thicker one-two punch of foundation.
Stretch Concealer
Why I Love It: This concealer is so creamy which makes it glide on like a total dream. I tried the Kosas concealer last week at Sephora out of curiosity to compare the two. Compared to Glossier’s concealer, I feel like the Kosas one required a bit more effort to get it to blend in.
I apply the Stretch Concealer mainly under my eyes, and around my nose. I also read somewhere to apply concealer under your eyebrows to give them a cleaner look — especially when you’re overdue for some brow maintenance which I usually am. This blew my mind and I’ve been doing it ever since.
Lash Slick
Why I Love It: This mascara really surprised me. I might not know jacks shit about contouring or highlighting your face, but I know my mascara. It’s the one product I wear every day, no matter what.
At first, I didn’t think it would be “enough” but now I’m totally hooked and wear it every single day, even if I’m not wearing any other makeup.
I’ve put my Lash Slick to the test and wear on days I’m teaching hot yoga for 3+ hours and then also take a heated class. I gotta say, it stays put. Impressive in the 90-degree yoga heat!
This stuff isn’t going to give out the most dramatic lash ever, but I like that it gives my natural lash a little boost to make me look awake.
Some Products I Didn’t Love…
Milky Oil: When I used this make-up remover at the Glossier store I loved it. Back home when I used it, it left my face SO red and irritated. Womp.
The Body Hero Duo (Oil Wash + Perfecting Cream): Ugh,I wanted to love this stuff SO much. During my first shower trying the product, I was hooked on the oil wash and then loved how silky smooth the body cream left my skin after.
Sadly the next day I was left with angry red welts on my arm. I have pretty sensitive skin, but I’ve never experienced anything like this with other body washes and lotions. My arms were legit BURNING during the barre class I took the next day. So now I’m still on the hunt for a new body wash and cream.
