I wrote this originally for instagram, but wanted to put this here as well:
I don’t know what to say right now. But there is also a lot to say. A lot to say about racism. About how absolutely messed up it is that being black in America is a death sentence. About how much I also don’t fully know, grasp, or understand about racism as a white person in this country. And about how I’m very late to the party and should’ve been vocal a long time ago.
The last few days have been eyeopening, but I am committed to learning about racism and learning about my own blind spots when it comes to racism. I am committed to learning about how I can help and how I can call out racism because I can do more than just reposting some cutesy graphic on my instagram story. I am committed to diversifying both the content I consume and the content I share. And I want to challenge myself to continue to learn, even when it’s uncomfortable and hard and complicated.
I am not perfect and I am learning. And maybe you can relate, too. Below are some resources I’m starting with plus businesses to support. I will also continue to share additional resources and information on Instagram.
