I am VERY excited that my new apartment has the space for a proper dining room set up. For the last 10 years, I’ve been eating most meals on my couch. Yikes. The thought of having an actual dining room table makes me feel like I’m finally growing up!
I haven’t bought any new furniture, but here are some images I’ve been pulling inspiration from plus some thoughts on what I’m going to do with the area.

What I’m Gravitating Towards:
Pink Chairs
I never thought I’d be so into pink furniture, but here we are! There is definitely a pattern in a lot of the dining room set-ups I saved to Pinterest and that’s a beautiful, pink, velvet chair.
Rectangle or Oval Table
I’m undecided whether to go with a rectangular or oval table.
Something I’m also really looking forward to about is being able to have my parents over for dinner. When we get together in the city we always eat at the counter in their apartment because the space is bigger. But now I’ll be able to invite them to my place and we’ll be able to sit comfortably!
Ditch the bench.
I posted the below photo in my mini apartment tour. The bench was left by the previous people. I personally hate it. Not my style at all! I’ve thought about painting it and reholstering it… but for me it’s still a no. It reminds me of a pew you’d sit on in a synagogue or church.
The church pew is going!
Painting the brick wall
The brick wall above is actually fake! It’s a wall that was put in in the last 10 or so years and the brick was added at that time. I’ve personally never loved an exposed brick look, although I’d maybe deal if it was the real deal and original to the apartment. Since the brick wall is fake I’ve decided to paint it white. I’m actually really into the idea of having the little pop of texture from the brick facade. But I think once it’s painted it will make the room feel even lighter and brighter! Having help from an experienced painting company like My House Painter or a similar one is usually valuable in this regard.
Gold lighting fixture
I know gold is trendy right now but OMG do I love the look of a gold fixture. I’ve been eying some gold lighting fixtures that are more my vibe than the black one that’s currently there.

ALSO: I just realized you can shop an image on Pinterest. I don’t know if this is a new thing but my mind is BLOWN. When you upload certain images to a board, you’ll get the little tag in the left-hand corner and the white dots. If you click on a dot it shows you items that are either identical or super similar. SO COOL!
✨
Your turn: What’s your favorite thing about your dining room? Should I go with a rectangle or oval table?
