Happy Friday! And L’shana Tova to those celebrating this weekend.
It’s been a minute since I’ve had some favorites to share! This week I have lots of fun things to share. As usual, it’s mainly just a lot of tasty food that I’ve eaten in the past few weeks. Some things never change…
Also apologies most of these photos of the food are absolute trash. Think of it as a blast from the 2012 blogging past before the age of filters and fancy photos…
I taught my first outdoor class!
Ahhhh!!!! I cannot tell you how much I’ve missed teaching people IRL. Zoom is great, but there’s nothing quite like being able to teach in person. The Bar Method – Noho is now offering outdoor classes on Pier 25 every day. You can sign up on MindBody!
dinner at The Butcher’s Daughter
Last weekend I went out to dinner with some friends at The Butcher’s Daugther. They have a cute outdoor dining area set up at their Nolita restaurant. I LOVED the cauliflower pizza with vegan cheese and also got a side of tempeh because why not. The watermelon margarita was super refreshing. It looks like most of their locations are open again for outdoor seating. I definitely recommend checking them out!
Vegan S’mores Ice Cream from Davey’s
I was walking by Davey’s in the East Village and stopped dead in my tracks when I saw their sign for VEGAN S’mores ice cream. A lactose intolerant dream come true for me. The ice cream was SOOOOO good. There were ooey-gooey chunks of marshmallow and now I want to figure out a way to have it again before it gets too cold out.
Union Square PEACEFOOD CAFE IS BACK!!!!
The vegan restaurant Peace Food Cafe is one of my all-time favorite places to get food and dessert. I legit cried when I saw that their Union Square location was open again. If you’re in the area, go support them! And try the vegan strawberry cheesecake. I’ve been dreaming of having it for the last 6 months — it tasted just as amazing as I remembered it.
I got my brother + his fiance a Cameo!
Have you heard of Cameo? It’s a website for you to get personalized messages from celebrities. There are a ton of different people to choose from and you can give them some info on who you’re sending the video to, etc.
My brother’s wedding was supposed to be Labor Day weekend but was postponed until 2021 due to the pandemic. I wanted to get him and his fiance something special for the day that was supposed to be their wedding. I saw that one of our favorite comedians, Aaron Karo, was offering Cameos. He oftentimes talks about weddings in his writing and stand-up so it felt perfect. The video Aaron sent was amazing and he went above and beyond for them.
It was SUCH a hit and I hope brought some laughter to my brother and his fiance on what should’ve been their special day. If you’re looking for a unique gift for someone, Cameo is so fun.
Uncle Ted’s Chinese food
My parents and I have been on a total Uncle Ted’s kick for Chinese food lately. We are obsessed and have loved every single thing we’ve ordered from them. I recommend: the egg drop soup, chicken with asparagus, clams with black bean sauce, and of course fried rice. All SO tasty.
Cocoron (Vegan!) Ramen
This week was a little chilly (okay, barely chilly!) and I was craving some ramen. I’ve passed by Cocoron walking around Nolita a few times and have been curious to try it. I got the Crazy Rich Vegan ramen delivered and added my own jammy egg and avocado. The broth was fabulously rich and tasty.
the TV show: Get Organized on Netflix from The Home Edit
Have you watched The Home Edit’s new show Get Organized on Netflix yet? It’s so delightfully good. The show is all about home organizing and each episode features an organization project from a celebrity and then another family. It’s the show we all need right now: it’s light-hearted, low-drama, and makes you want to organize every inch of your home. I CANNOT wait to totally color organize my pantry and closet in my new apartment.
dinner at VSpot
I’ve passed by vegan restaurant VSport on St. Marks hundreds of times now and have always wanted to check them out. A few weeks ago I had dinner there with friends and it was oh so tasty. I got the quesadilla and we split the avocado fries. Both were excellent.
