I haven’t been sharing all that much “life behind the scenes” lately here or on instagram because honestly it’s not very glamorous. It’s a lot of sitting at my desk in yoga pants and drinking coffee, while staring at my computer.
What I’m Up To:
TEACHING:
I’m still teaching virtual Bar Method classes on Zoom and Instagram. Each week is different but generally I’m teaching once or twice a week right now. I also demo classes on Zoom for Bar Method so clients can easily follow along.
This week I’m teaching yoga for the first time in awhile. Sunday I’ll be teaching a yoga class as part of a phonebanking event with Young Women for Biden. You can learn more about the event and sign up here. And then Tuesday I’ll be teaching a free class for Y7 Online. I am SO excited for both!!!
DIGITAL MARKETING:
I’ve talked about this briefly, but I also recently started a new job as a Digital Marketing Strategist with a website design agency. I do social media strategy and content creation for both the company itself and some of their clients. I also do a lot of copy writing for emails and blog posts.
I’ve honestly really enjoyed getting back into doing marketing work for brands and companies.
Do I miss teaching full time?
Yes. I’m an attention whore that loves to perform. I miss getting that hit of dopamine from teaching multiple classes a day. I miss my students. I miss crafting fun classes on a regular basis.
BUT I don’t necessarily miss waking up at 5AM most days. Or how gross my body felt from being sweaty all day in a hot yoga room. Or how my legs would feel like lead at the end of a long teaching day. I LOVE teaching, but constantly giving and sweating and speaking oftentimes left me depleted and with a hoarse voice.
Like many of us, I’m sure, I don’t know what’s going to happen next. In NYC fitness studios still aren’t open. And when they do, schedules and capacity will be reduced meaning there won’t be as many classes for instructors to pick up.
There is a lot that is out of our control right now. Hi, it’s a pandemic.
In the meantime, I’m just doing my best to be present and take it all day by day rather than have a grand plan for what comes next.
