Hope you all had a restful and safe Thanksgiving.
For Small Business Saturday I wanted to highlight some of my personal favorite small businesses. There’s a little bit of everything below ranging from my favorite bookstores to support, cute home decor creators I’ve found, fitness studios, and more.
Favorite Small Bookstores:
Below are some of my favorite bookstores both in the NYC area as well as near LA. Whether you choose to (safely) shop in person, order curbside pick-up, or order for delivery, I recommend buying your books from a small bookstore vs. Amazon. Gotta keep these fabulous stores in business!
I also find bookstores to be a great place for a cute book-related t-shirt, tote bag, or coffee mug for the book lover in your life (I’m OBSESSED with this tie-dyed t-shirt and mug from Books are Magic)
The Strand (NYC)
The Lit Bar (NYC)
Cafe con Libros (NYC)
McNally Jackson Books (NYC)
Books are Magic (NYC )
Book Soup (LA)
Vromans (Pasadena)
Home Decor Creators:
Sazerac Stitches– Custom Lighting Fixtures: I am OBSESSED with this mint green sconce I got from there for my bedroom.
Peared Creation – Lighting Fixtures: My new dining room chandelier is from them and it’s gorgeous.
My designer, Nicole: Gotta give her a shoutout as she’s incredible at her job and also helped me learn about so many of these amazing small decor businesses.
Yellow Pop – Custom Neon Signs: Yellow Pop makes custom neon signs for your home. You can choose from an already made design or totally customize the word, font, and color.
Drop it Modern – Peel and stick wallpaper: I’ve spent hours looking at all the beautiful wallpaper options from Drop It Modern. This is the one I went with for my bedroom and it’s stunning in person.
Hearts in Color – Cute Art Prints: Lots of California-inspired art prints that you can print on your own. Super reasonably priced. This poolside one is one of my favorites.
Prints by Sidney – Harry Styles + One Direction prints: I shamelessly LOVE this poster print of all the songs from Harry Styles’ Fine Lines.
Made By Mesi Co – Cute prints and stickers: I LOVE this Treat People with Kindness print.
Cool Girl Candles – Fun, Customizable Candles: Because obviously, I bought a “This Smells Like Harry Styles” candle. (I’m going to laugh REAL hard in 5 years when I wonder why I bought so many Harry related things for my apartment 😂)
Sabrina’s Stickers – handmade stickers, keychains, art prints, and more: I love a “motel-style” keychain!
Fitness Studios:
A shameless plug for both of the studios I teach at:
Bar Method – Noho (barre) and Y7 Studio (yoga). You can currently workout with Bar Method – Noho (and me!) on Zoom or Instagram with a membership or class package. Y7 Studio now has an online streaming platform.
Also always have to send some love to one of my forever favorite studios, Body Space Fitness. Their classes and trainers are the real deal. I’ve been taking classes with them on Zoom.
Miscellaneous:
Megababe Beauty: Megababe makes a number of cute, clean, helpful beauty products for every day needs. I always have the Squeaky Clean hand sanitzer in my purse. Whenever friends use it they always comment on how they are SHOCKED it doesn’t leave their hands feeling all gross and dry like other hand sanitzers. Honestly one of my best finds of 2020.
Function of Beauty: I’m obsessed with their customized Shampoo + Conditioner (full review here!)
Live Aware Co: A friend of mine from high school launched Live Aware Co earlier this year. They make seriously cute, ethically sourced, loungewear, including my favorite pineapple tank.
Pygmy Hippo: Whenever I’m in LA I absolutely must go to Pygmy Hippo. I’m so thrilled they’re online, too. This eclectic gift shop has a little bit of everything — fabulous birthday cards, cute embroidery with swear words for your house, and things like this California necklace I wear all the time.
Chappy Wrap: These cozy, machine washable, blankets are amazing. They’ve been so perfect for reading on my couch. The turquoise one I got is currently on sale!
