Happy Wednesday! These favorites are coming at you a bit early this week. Lots of fun things to share including the crop top I’m OBSESSED with, new sneakers, the coziest robe, the show you should watch ASAP, and more.
a virtual Vision Board party
Over the years, my friend Leslie and I have always hosted a vision board making event. We missed last year while both of us were going through some personal things. We joke that our lack of vision didn’t turn out so well for 2020. BUT ANYWAYS… we decided to do a virtual vision board party together on Zoom.
I’m so glad we did — it was so much fun to do some arts and crafts while catching up with a good friend.
New to making vision boards? Start here!
this crop top I’ve seen everywhere
I was #influenced by several people to buy this crop top from Free People. I caved… and of course, I’m obsessed. It’s become my new go-to top for yoga and barre. The top comes in pretty much every color of the rainbow — my favorite is the violet quartz.
I will say, it’s not a super supportive top. Great for yoga and barre, but probably not a good choice for high-impact cardio like running or dancing.
Bombas Socks
I’ve been a fan of Bombas for a while now and bought a whole bunch of new socks on Black Friday. You know you’re in your 30’s when new socks get you hyped. Not only are their socks great but the company also seems great as well with their devotion to giving back.
It’s weird to gush about socks being “well-engineered” but it’s true for Bombas. I love that their ankle socks have a tab on the back so they stay put. There’s nothing worst than a sock sliding down. They also have just the right amount of cushion, a bit of arch support, and are reinforced in key spots.
I’ve had some of my older pairs of ankle socks for 5+ years and they’ve held up!
New Sneakers
I don’t wear sneakers all that often since my go-to workout is barre, but I’ve been wanting a pair of new sneakers to wear for indoor workouts in my apartment. I’m a big fan of the TechLoom bliss slip-on sneaker from APL.
After a bit of searching, I was super excited to find the shoes discounted on Holabird Sports. I had never heard of them before but can confirm that the shoes came SUPER fast (maybe even less than 48 hours after I ordered) and were exactly what I wanted. Colors and sizes are limited from them, but you might luck out!
taking a class with New York Bodies
A few weeks ago I was in a super mopey mood. I decided to change things up and take a dance class on Zoom with New York Bodies. For that class, we learned the choreography for Eye2Eye from a Goofy Movie. It was SO much fun! You spend the whole 45 minutes learning the choreography bit by bit and then run it through a few times at the end. It left me in the best mood and was just what I needed. I took another class with them this week to Arianna Grande’s Santa Tell Me.
Even if you’re not a dancer, it’s so much fun. Plus on Zoom, you can always turn the camera off if you don’t want to be seen. Highly highly recommend it!
Dash and Lily
Have you watched Dash and Lily yet on Netflix? Last week my friend texted me demanding I watch ASAP since it’s holiday-themed and my window to watch was dwindling. In general, I’m not super into holiday movies or shows, but this TV show was SO cute and a huge love letter to NYC and in particular The Strand Bookstore.
17-year-old Lily leaves a mysterious notebook with a note in it on a shelf at The Strand hoping an eligible suitor finds it. Dash, also 17-years-old, stumbles upon it and writes her back. They go back and forth writing each other notes and sending each other on mini scavenger hunts full of dares to the other. Even though they’ve never met, they are starting to realize they might really get along.
I ended up watching all 8 episodes in one night, a rarity for me, but it’s that kind of show. Worth watching this week if you haven’t!
Kosas lip balm
Anyone else dealing with seriously chapped lips!?
I got this lip balm from clean beauty brand Kosas earlier this week and it’s helped my lips SO much. I like that it feels the right amount of thickness without being super greasy.
Vegan Chocolate Collagen Bites from Sourse
**Use Code KAYLAINTHECITY for $10 off your first Sourse purchase**
Even though I’m a “wellness blogger” (I mean… I don’t even know if I *really* am at this rate) I’ve never tried collagen anything. Usually, collagen things are made with cow products, and I personally don’t eat red meat.
I was excited when Sourse reached out to me to try their “Glow” chocolate collagen bites which are totally plant-based. I’ve only been taking them for about a week so won’t pretend that they’ve changed my life (/skin/hair). At the very least they are super tasty little chocolate bites for me to eat every night.
They also have another variation, Hype, with B12 vitamins which I’m excited to try.
the coziest bathrobe
I’ve been wanting a bathrobe for a while now. For Chanukah, my parents got me this waffle robe from Parachute. I. Am. Obsessed. I like feeling cozy… but I also get overheated easily. The waffle material is the right amount of cozy without being too heavy.
The cut of the robe is on the more petite side. For me, the size small fits great (I’m 5’2″) and I like that I’m not drowning in the sleeves or length but would be aware that it’s not super long if you’re gifted with more height than I am.
