I have to admit, I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to workout clothes. Fitness is my job so I’ve always preferred investing in high-quality workout clothes that I know can last me a few years and hold up over time.
But after seeing a few videos on TikTok I was intrigued by this Amazon tank top that’s super similar to Lululemon’s Align Tank and less than half the price.
Is this dupe too good to be true? Here are my thoughts:
For more pics of the tank on I’m also wearing it in this blog post!
First impression:
Having never purchased workout clothes from Amazon, I went into this shopping experience with very low expectations. But upon trying this tank on I was really surprised at how nice the fabric is. It’s not quite the same buttery soft feeling of Lululemon’s Align fabric, it’s a bit shinier, but it’s still very soft and doesn’t feel gross, itchy, or cheap.
The Fit:
I’m typically a size 4 in all things Lululemon. I ordered a size small and the fit is perfect for my body. The cut is flattering and tight in the right places. It’s a bit more tapered around the waist but not too tight under my arms.
The tank has a shelf bra. I don’t have a lot of boobs by any means, but I’m also definitely not flat-chested. The tank gives me ample “lift” without being too much “boobage” if you know what I mean. I like where the curve of the top hits on me. More details on the Lululemon Align tank below, but the Lululemon neckline was way too plunging for me.
The Price:
The Amazon tank is $21.99, compared to Lululemon’s $58.
Taking it for a flow (literally)
My first test run for the tank was teaching a yoga class on Zoom. A bold choice considering any outfit malfunctions would be captured on camera live while teaching and demo-ing.
Luckily there were no issues or outfit malfunctions. I didn’t get super sweaty teaching but the fabric did feel comfortable and I didn’t have to yank up my tank top at any point. No issues with chafing or anything digging in where it shouldn’t be.
I have also worn the top now for barre as well and no complaints. I’m pleasantly surprised at how comfy it is to wear and how good the fabric feels on my skin.
What I think this tank is great for…
Because of the built-in bra, this tank is better for low-impact workouts like yoga, barre, and strength training. I haven’t gotten super sweaty it in yet so I’m not sure how well it would wick for a spin class or hot yoga class.
What I don’t think this tank is great for…
High impact workouts where you may want more boob support like running, dancing, or a Bootcamp type class. Of course, this depends on your body, too.
How it compares to the Lululemon Align Tank
After falling in love with the Amazon dupe, I was curious about the Lululemon Align Tank. I had never tried it on before but know people love it.
When you look at the two tank tops next to each other, they are almost identical with the same seams on the front and everything. The Lululemon tank top appears to be a smidge shorter in length but has longer straps. The back also seems to dip lower. Fabric wise the Lululemon tank is a bit “softer” whereas the Amazon tank a tiny bit shinier.
Trying the Lululemon Align tank on I was really disappointed with the fit which surprised me. As I mentioned above, the neckline felt REALLY low and too revealing for me to teach or workout in. I also thought the fit around my armpit wasn’t flattering at all.
While the quality of the Lululemon tank is a tiny bit better, I found the fit of the Amazon tank to be WAY more flattering.
All in All:
I didn’t think I’d say this but I love the Amazon dupe tank. The price is right and the fit is great. I’ve only washed it once since purchasing so I can’t speak to how it will hold up after 100 washes. But for the price? It’s a huge win. I highly recommend checking it out.
