Let’s chat BIKER SHORTS! It took me a while to hop on the biker short trend. I don’t even know why I was hesitant — I think I was worried they wouldn’t look good on me and I wasn’t “cool girl” enough to pull them off.
In the last year, I’ve changed my tune and I’m now officially obsessed. Even though I’m probably still not cool enough to pull these shorts off 😂
It’s been pretty warm in NYC this week and I’ve totally embraced the biker short life both for working out and also being out and about in the city.
Today I wanted to compare my favorite biker shorts from Alo, Everlane, and Lululemon.
Biker Short Guide:
Alo– High Waist Biker Short
Alo’s High Waist Biker Short has a slightly thicker fabric than the Everlane or Lululemon shorts. This makes them a bit compressive, but without feeling like you’re uncomfortably sucked in. I’ve found that I have no issues with them staying in place both when I’m walking around or taking a barre class.
I’m wearing an XS
They’re the most “fashion-forward” of the three thanks to their thickness and how flattering they are… although I wish they didn’t have a logo right on the thigh. These shorts are great for going out with a cute oversized sweatshirt or to wear during a barre class but are a bit too thick for me for sweaty workouts like hot yoga or spin.
Everlane – the Perform Bike Short
Everlane’s Perform Bike Shorts are my favorite of the bunch! I now have a few pairs of them!
The fabric is thin and a bit shiny making them great for workouts. I’ve worn them for pretty much everything — spin classes, hiking, barre, long walks, and also out to brunch. No complaints! I love them and wore them pretty much every day while I was in LA.
I’m wearing a size S
Even though the fabric is thin and sweat-wicking, these shorts are slightly compressive and also stay in place. I don’t feel like I have to pull them down all day… which is sometimes the case with biker shorts.
All in all, I LOVE these shorts, both for working out and wearing out and about. They’re also the least expensive of the three!
Lululemon – Align Short – 6″
You already know how much I LOVE Lululemon’s Align Leggings (more on that here). The Align Short is made out of the same buttery soft material and comes in a few lengths. In the picture I’m wearing the 6″ but also have a pair of 4″ which are less of a biker short vibe and more in booty short territory. There are also longer lengths I need to try!
I’m wearing a size 4
The fabric is the thinnest of the bunch and also the least compressive. I find that they ride up a bit when I’m working out or walking around and I have to pull them down.
The waistband is higher than the other two shorts — a bit above my belly button.
I really loved these shorts for beach workouts when I was in Nicaragua last year. It was SO hot and humid, the thought of wearing anything super restrictive was unappealing.
The fabric is the softest of the three, but they’re also the least compressive. I wouldn’t necessarily wear them out and about but more so for workouts.
