I’m usually talking about fitness fashion, but today I wanted to chat about the popular 90’s Cheeky Jeans from Everlane. They’ve quickly become my go-to jeans. Granted I won’t pretend I wear jeans every day — I’m all about that yoga pant life during a pandemic or not — but the days I do want to feel a bit more put together these have become my new favorite.
If you’re not familiar with Everlane, they’ve become my favorite brand for everyday basics. The brand focuses on “Radical Transparency” which means using ethical factories while still offering quality products at a reasonable cost.
So, let’s chat all about the 90’s Cheeky Jean, my honest thoughts, and some tips on sizing!
What You Need to Know about the 90’s Cheeky Jean from Everlane:
The jeans are considered straight leg
For the last 15 or so years, I’ve pretty much only owned skinny jeans, like most millennials. I’m new to the look of straight-leg jeans so that took some getting used to. I’ll still (happily) wear my skinny jeans (even if TikTok says I shouldn’t 😂) but I will say there’s something really comfy about the more relaxed leg fit.
If you’re like me and new to non-skinny jeans, these are a good place to start. While they’re a more relaxed fit and silhouette, they still offer some shape.
The fabric is 100% cotton
These jeans are 100% cotton and have no stretch to them. Everlane calls it a vintage-inspired look, and the material definitely reminds me of the jeans I used to rock in the early 90’s. The fabric is much thicker than my stretchy jeans.
I recommend sizing up
Since the pants don’t stretch, I recommend sizing up. I’m typically a size 25 and went with the 26 which fit great. I’m 5’2″ and went for the ankle length. They’re still a bit long as you can see, but I don’t mind the rolled-up look at the bottom.
Even though they don’t stretch, I’ve found they feel better and better as they get more broken in.
Also available in curvy
I haven’t tried the curvy cut on, but it’s the same silhouette but designed for hourglass shapes.
At first I was iffy about them 🙈
Having worn nothing but skinny jeans since I was a teen, they felt SO weird at first. I wasn’t sure if they were the right fit or even a good look for my body.
I’m still not 100% sure if they look good, but I also don’t really care 😂 Slipping them on, they feel SO comfortable! This is not something I say about most jeans. And I think they’re pretty cute.
The pants are pretty high-waisted on my body, we’re talking right up to my belly button. For me, they’re fitted around my butt but then relaxed around the leg. I’d say they’re more comfortable for standing around, a tiny bit less so for sitting because of the high waist. But still pretty comfy for jeans and this hasn’t stopped me from wearing them out to eat pretty often.
They’re $78
For jeans that are less than $100, the quality is amazing.
They come in a bunch of washes
Right now I’m seeing 12 different options — that’s a whole lot of washes! Mine are the vintage sunbleached blue wash which is the perfect light jean color, especially for spring.
All in All:
I’m not ditching my favorite skinny jeans any time soon, but my 90’s Cheeky Jeans have become the pair of jeans I grab for the most these days. They’re comfy enough for the quarantine life while also feeling “fresh” when it comes to fashion. I definitely recommend if you’re looking to branch out from skinny jeans for the first time. And now… I’m eying what other colors I want to buy 🙈
