I’m one of those people that’s always a bit overheated (I blame Ayurveda — I’m a total pitta with my reddish hair and freckles!) When I was shopping around for a new comforter, I was super intrigued by the Buffy Breeze comforter which is designed to keep you cool at night. As someone that often wakes up in the middle of the night a sweaty mess (TMI? Maybe 😂) but still likes the weight of a comforter, I figured it was worth a shot.
I’ve now been using it for about a month, and we’ve already had some toasty nights here in NYC. Here are my thoughts so far!

Buffy Breeze Comforter Review
What You Need To Know:
If you’re not familiar with Buffy, they are a company all about making earth-friendly home products focused on sustainability. Most of their products are made from Eucalyptus (including these sheets I have too which I chatted about a bit in this blog post.) This uses about 76% less water than traditional cotton. According to Buffy, they also offset all CO2 emissions from freight and customer shipments.
The Buffy Breeze Comforter is made from 100% Eucalyptus. This makes it more cooling than your typical comforter as traditional polyester traps heat. It comes in 3 sizes, I have a Queen size bed so went with the Queen / Full size. They also offer a 7-night free trial before you commit to buying, you’ll receive the product but won’t be charged until after the trial.
FYI: Buffy also has a super popular Cloud Comforter too which is extra fluffy but not as cooling.
What I Love About the Buffy Breeze Comforter:
It’s lightweight, but still enough weight to feel like it’s there. I’m one of the weirdos that cannot sleep just with a top sheet. I need the weight of a blanket on me, even if it’s a million degrees. This blanket is perfect for my fellow weirdos that like to feel the weight of a blanket on top of them, but don’t want the added warmth. It’s truly a win-win.
I haven’t woken up sweating in the middle of the night: Truth be told, this could be thanks to a few factors. I now have central AC whereas my old window AC unit used to go into energy-saving mode randomly in the middle of the night. Because of this, I can keep the temperature more consistent in my bedroom.
I’m also using the Buffy sheets which probably help offset the heat.
With that being said, the comforter seems to stay cool to the touch even on the toastiest night. I haven’t woken up sweating once since I moved to the new place. I also imagine this would be the case when sharing the bed — there’s nothing worse than sleeping next to someone that feels like a furnace 😂 I think this comforter could help keep you cool even if your co-sleeper is a toasty sleeper, too.
It’s well made. I don’t have much to compare it to as my previous duvet was an Urban Outfitters find, but the duvet feels well made and like it can last.
It’s really cute: Not the most important thing, obviously, but it’s a cute duvet! I’ve been using mine without a duvet cover (which is probably a bad idea… but more on that below) and I love the wave pattern on it.
What I Don’t Love About the Buffy Breeze Comforter:
You’re supposed to use a duvet cover. I’ve been using mine without a duvet cover because:
1. Is there anything more annoying than putting a duvet cover on!?!?!?! UGH. And then mine always get all messed up and the comforter ends up at the bottom of the cover by the end of the night.
2. I’ve heard that the comforter isn’t as cooling when you put a duvet cover on it.
TBD if going cover-free is a terrible decision on my part. I live alone and don’t have pets or anything in the bed with me so so far the white is still super white. Not sure if that will be true over time.
It’s not machine washable. The comforter is dry-clean only. An expensive pain to deal with IMO.
It’s not cheap. It’s a bit steep at $219 for a Queen size bed, even compared to the Cloud Buffy comforter at $159.
All in All:
Ultimately I really love my new comforter. For someone like me that tends to sleep really hot, it’s been perfect for the summer. I’m not someone that likes a super marshmallow-y comforter, even in the winter, so will probably use it year-round making it worth the investment.
If sleeping hot isn’t a concern for you and you are all about the marshmallow life, you might want to go with the less pricey Cloud option. But for my fellow toasty sleepers, the Breeze just might be a worthwhile investment and game-changer for us.
