Hiiii! It’s been a minute!
During the end of summer, I always end up taking a step back from blogging. It’s usually not planned or intentional but just happens that way. I find myself wanting to be as present as possible as I soak up every last warm day with long walks around NYC, beach trips, and swimming at the pool at my parent’s apartment.
But I’m back! And have some favorites to share. Let’s dive on in!
Dress is old from Marine Layer. This is the same cut though!
My brother’s wedding
My absolute favorite thing to share: My brother got married! I couldn’t be happier for him and my new sister-in-law. It was truly a joy-filled weekend in New Hampshire celebrating two amazing people.
Also… if you’re ever in Nashua, New Hampshire, we had a fabulous brunch at Tucker’s. I got the avocado toast with a poached egg because I’m basic like that but WOW was it good. I couldn’t stop raving about the homemade sourdough bread.
BROADWAY IS BACK!
After over a year and a half, Broadway shows are officially back!!! On Tuesday I saw Hamilton’s reopening on Broadway. I can’t even begin to describe what a magical night it was (although I did try to capture a bit of it here on Instagram). There is nothing like the experience of seeing live theater. It felt like a bit of a homecoming for me getting back to doing something I love more than just about anything.
Current rules are if you’re over 12 years old you must show proof of vaccination, under 12 a negative PCR test. Everyone must wear a mask during the show unless they are eating or drinking. In my experience, people were very respectful of the mask rule and ushers were enforcing the policy even during the show.
I also have tickets to see Moulin Rouge and Six this fall… and am hoping to see Waitress (again) and American Utopia.
If you feel comfortable, GO SEE A SHOW. And support these incredible artists.
This Shampoo + Conditioner from EVO
My hair is naturally pretty straight but really thick and frizzy. It might not look like it, but I have A LOT of hair!
I asked my hairstylist for a shampoo and conditioner recommendation and he recommended this for my hair. I’ve only used it about 3 times but so far have been loving the results. It’s made my hair MUCH easier to maintain and blow out straight. And it’s been frizz-free so far.
It’s definitely not cheap, but it’s very concentrated so you don’t need a ton.
working out at The Fhitting Room
My typical workouts these days are taking barre classes at the studio where I teach and then I do Peloton rides here and there. I’ve been craving doing a workout in-studio that I don’t also teach. I know it’s good to switch things up for my body and move in a different way. I also find I’m super in my head when I take a class format I also teaching. In the middle of class I’ll start thinking about things I want to steal and teach in my own class 😂
I’ve been taking weekly classes at the HIIT (high-intensity interval training) studio The Fhitting Room in Flatiron and have been LOVING it. The studio has been a long time favorite of mine — I wrote about them back in 2013 long before they opened their Flatiron studio.
The classes are INTENSE mostly using kettlebells for strength and things like rowing machines and the assault bike for cardio, but there are also tons of ways to modify depending on your needs. It’s a fun environment and I find myself leaving class feeling super accomplished and STRONG every single time.
the cute new cafe in Greenwich Village: Spring Cafe Aspen
This new cafe on West 4th couldn’t be CUTER. But maybe I’m a bit biased as they seem to have the same aesthetic as my own apartment.
I’ve gone a few times for breakfast and to meet up with a friend for coffee. It’s the perfect place to meet up with a friend or a colleague (they currently have indoor and outdoor seating!) or get some work done on your own.
the comfiest skinny jeans
I know skinny jeans are apparently “out” but I don’t care. I’m still a fan of them…
These skinny jeans from Everlane are SO comfy, which is saying a lot considering how much I hate wearing jeans. They’re higher waisted than any other pair I have and go above my belly button.
I sized up in them as I’m sometimes on the cusp for Everlane jean sizing and got ankle length. I’m 5’2″ and they’re still a bit long for me so I have to roll them up at the cuff, but I’m pretty used to that for most jeans and personally like the look.
Future Favorites:
Everything from Madewell is currently 20% off for Insiders (I think all you have to do is add yourself to the email list to be considered a subscriber. I’m currently eying:
- this jumpsuit looks like it would be SO comfy but also cute for travel with a jean jacket.
- I’m dreaming of wearing this dress with a leather jacket and my white chelsea boots this fall.
- this mockneck top will be great for layering as the weather gets colder.
- I’m a sucker for anything deep green and think this top will look fab with black jeans.
- I love this red, retro-looking dress
I got VERY excited about the new Hill House Home drop last week. I’ve officially become a part of nap dress nation 🙈 Here’s what I’m trying on:
- I already know I love the Ellie Nap Dress and especially love it in green. I recommend sizing down!
- How cute is this top!? I’m hopeful it fits well as I think it will be super cute with skinny jeans. Or with anything if I’m wearing it on Zoom 😂
