Hiya! Can you believe it’s mid-October 😬
As I type this up, it’s the first real crisp fall feeling day. I’m a summer gal all the way and have been loving that the weather has still been pretty warm(ish) in NYC. But I’m also starting to get excited for a more cozy season. The introvert in me wants nothing more than to spend my free time cozy on the couch with a blanket, a warm chai, and a good book.
NYC as a whole is definitely feeling more “full” and back to what it used to be. It’s hard to say things are back to “normal” as there has been so much loss in the last year and a half. But there is no doubt a lot of energy in the city right now. It is far from dead.
I’m grateful that there are a lot of strict rules in NYC still right now. For things like fitness studios and indoor dining you are required to show proof of vaccination. Same is true for Broadway shows and big concerts plus you have to wear a mask.
It’s been exciting to get back to enjoying some of my favorite things about NYC. I’ve now seen two Broadway shows. First was Hamilton reopening night as I previously talked about. I also saw Six which is a concert essentially performed by the the six wives of Henry VIII. I’m not usually a history person, but it was 80 minutes of pure fun and incredible talent. I loved it and highly recommend it if you’re looking for a show that’s just a good time and great singing on Broadway right now. I’m excited to also be seeing Moulin Rouge later this week!
Over the weekend my friend Will and I went to see one of my favorite drag queens Bianca Del Rio do her comedy show. She was hilarious and ridiculously offensive and inappropriate as per usual.
Earlier this month I went to go see Harry Styles in concert (I embarrassingly have tickets to see him 2 more times at the end of the month). I remember buying those tickets probably around 3AM sometime in April 2020. I bought those tickets as something to look forward to while I was feeling super alone and navigating pandemic life in NYC and losing my job. The concert was originally for July 2020 but was of course rescheduled. It felt surreal to finally be there, seeing him in concert. Before the pandemic I had NO clue who he was… look at me now 😂
On the work front I’m doing a lot of things as always. As you might know, I’ve launched my own social media coaching business in which I work with women solopreneurs. If you’re looking for some social media support, let’s chat! I also do social media management and some other digital marketing work for a client a few hours a week (Not currently taking on other management clients, FYI!)
I’m teaching about 11 classes a week between barre at The Bar Method and yoga at Y7. I’ve loved being back to teaching in studio, but it’s also definitely been a shift energetically now that I’m not just teaching! In the before times I’d spend the downtime between classes watching a lot of Rupaul’s Drag Race. Now I have to remember I need to do other work in that time.
I’m really excited for my own upcoming events. I’m teaching a 90’s Zoom Yoga class on 10/27 and then leading my first book club zoom event 11/3. We’re reading my favorite favorite book, The Idea of You. Hope you can join for either!
