I thought it would be fun today to switch things up and devote a whole post to one of my favorite favorite things: THEATER. Instead of giving a full review of each show, I thought I’d go TikTok style giving a mini 1 sentence review of everything I’ve seen lately. Maybe it’s just fun for me, I don’t know 😂
1 Sentence Broadway Review:
Company: This production is both an emotional and hilarious rethinking of Company and feels so much more powerful with a female Bobbi.
Come From Away: I can’t believe I waited so long to see this show about where planes were redirected to on 9/11 as it’s uplifting and gives you some faith in humanity — all in a quick 100 minutes
Little Shop of Horrors: A fabulous product of this delightfully campy but creepy sci-fimusical, although I was a bit confused by some of the acting choices.
Six: Girl power meets historical fiction in this fun, quick, 80-minute musical that feels more like a concert but has some of the best singing you’ll hear on Broadway right now.
Moulin Rouge: Visually it’s STUNNING but in many ways, this show is a mediocre adaptation of a great movie feeling like it’s just trying to attract a tourist crowd with bizarre Lady Gaga remixes.
To Kill a Mocking Bird: Having never read the book (seriously!) I was so invested in this show, the acting, and the story — which is saying a lot as I don’t usually like plays.
The Music Man: Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster bring SO much joy and charisma to the stage in this production that reminds me why I love musical theater as much as I do.
American Utopia: More of a concert than a Broadway show, it’s a fun experience and unique way to hear David Bryne’s music
Hamilton: Do I even need to offer a review at this point 😂 In my very honest opinion, still worth the hype, and still one of the most well-crafted musicals, ever.
