A little note about last month’s reading recap: I am holding one of my reviews in support of the Harper Collins Union strike. But I’m also throwing in one of my holiday reads that I finished this week. In January you probably won’t care about it as much…
Now that we got that out of the way, here’s what I’ve been reading lately!
It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover
One sentence plot: The Atlas and Lily focused sequel to It Ends With Us that gives us more backstory on Atlas.
One sentence review: While I LOVED reconnecting with Lily and Atlas and seeing where they’re at, this book didn’t feel necessary at all and lacked the emotional spark of the first book making it pretty meh for me.
Read this book if: Only read this book if you’ve already read It Ends With Us. If you weren’t crazy about the first book, skip this one. If you did love Lily and Atlas and want more closure, read this book.
My Rating: 3.5/5 Stars
Meredith, Alone by Claire Alexander
Heads up, this book has a lot of TW including suicide, rape, and sexual assault.
One sentence plot: Meredith hasn’t left her home in over 3 years but it starting to take the small steps to get her life back on track.
One sentence review: This book is heavy at times but I found myself rooting hard for Meredith and invested in what happens to her.
Read this book if: You loved Eleanor Oliphant, you want to read something deeply emotional that uplifts you at the end.
My Rating: 4/6 Stars
The Idea of You by Robinne Lee
I’ve read and reviewed this book a few times before. Here’s my initial review of the book.
Kiss Her Once For Me by Alison Cochrun
One sentence plot: A cozy, sapphic, holiday romance with a marriage of convenience and a lot drama.
One sentence review: I read this while sick with COVID and while romances are hit miss for me, this one was the perfect cozy hug and sick read.
Read this book if: You love a holiday romance with well fleshed out characters.
My Rating: 4.5/5 Stars
