I thought it would be fun to do a big round-up of some of my favorite things from this year! Today I’ll focus on TV shows, podcasts, beauty products, fashion, and some other random things. Stay tuned for a more in-depth round-up of what I read in 2022.
My Favorite Products and Things of 2022
TV Shows:
The Sex Lives of College Girls: My love for this show is STRONG. I finished season 2 last night and already want more.
Never Have I Ever: Another incredible show from Mindy Kaling. I’ve seen every episode a few times now. I continue to be amazed at how it can have me laughing one moment and then crying the next.
Ted Lasso: I’m very late to the party on this one and only just started watching it this week. Of course, it’s as good as everyone says and I’m already almost caught up. I didn’t think I’d be into Ted Lasso as a character but have been delightfully surprised.
What We Do in the Shadows: Vampires aren’t usually my thing, but apparently funny vampires are. This show is so ridiculous in the best way.
Atlanta: I loved the final season of Atlanta. There’s always something interesting to dissect and discuss. It’s both one of the funniest shows while also being one of the smartest shows at the same time.
Rupaul’s Drag Race (and various international seasons): Drag Race is my comfort TV show and what I put on in the background when I’m eating or cleaning up. This year I especially loved All-Stars 7.
The Summer I Turned Pretty: The chokehold this show had on me this summer, GAHHH! Between the feels it gave me and the killer soundtrack it was just so good. Cannot wait for season 2.
Podcasts:
Alright Mary: My favorite Rupaul’s Drag Race recap podcast. I look forward to listening every Monday.
Bad on Paper: Love love love this podcast that’s part book love and part just friends chatting.
Free Period: This podcast with Alana Haim and Sasha Spielberg is new to me but I’ve been really enjoying it.
Gal Pals: Feels like catching up with friends. It’s always cozy and comforting.
Happier with Gretchen Rubin: I’ve loved Gretchen Rubin’s books on happiness and have enjoyed her podcast with her sister. It always gives me something to think about.
Pod Meets World: As someone that grew up loving Boy Meets World I’ve been really enjoying hearing the cast recap every episode.
Beauty Products:
Caliray Mascara: Hands down my favorite all-around mascara I’ve ever used.
Saie Slip Tint: My go-to tinted moisturizer. Love it as an all-in-one makeup product.
Westman Atelier Highlighter: I’m clueless about makeup but love using this highlighter on my nose, cheeks, brow browbone, and above my lip for glow-y look.
This shower cap: I’ve been trying to wash my hair less. This shower cap has been a hair saver on days I just want to take a body shower.
Keratin Treatments: I started getting Cezanne keratin treatments again this year. My hair is naturally pretty straight but it’s deceptively thick and can get frizzy. Keratin has made my hair SO much easier to manage. If you’re NYC I recommend Davide Hair Salon.
Scrunchies: Carrie Bradshaw, forgive me but I’ve become a scrunchie convert. I love that they don’t crease my hair when I put it up to workout.
Fashion:
This purse: Expensive purses aren’t really my thing, I used to just use a canvas tote bag for my every day purse. Having a bag with tons of pockets has been a game-changer though. I’m no longer fishing around for my keys or AirPods in the abyss of my tote bag. I especially love that this bag is big enough to fit a water bottle without feeling like it’s a huge bag.
This robe: Also a favorite from last year. It’s the perfect combo of being cozy but not too thick that I’m sweating.
Nuuly: I’m two months into using Nuuly to rent clothes and I’ve been LOVING it. It’s so fun to pick out clothes that are a bit outside my comfort zone.
These Slippers: The coziest for wearing around my apartment!
My favorite yoga pants: Okay this isn’t anything new, but these yoga pants are the only leggings I wear.
Nap Dresses: My favorite dress to wear all summer.
Home:
Being a plant mama! I am proud to say I’ve kept my bamboo palm tree alive for over a year.
my One Line a Day journal: Every night before I go to bed I’ve been writing in my One Line a Day journal. I like that it’s a really manageable journaling practice — just takes a minute or two.
