Holy moly it’s MAY! Growing up May was always my favorite month. For starters is my birthday month! It also always felt like the homestretch of the school year.
With everything going on this years I still feel kind of excited that it’s May, but it feels different not knowing what summer (or even my birthday in a few weeks) will look like.
ANYWAY. Here we are, another Friday in quarantine, and another blog posts of some things I’ve been really loving this week.
Favorite Things
Mindy Kaling’s new TV show “Never Have I Ever”
Mindy Kaling’s new TV show came out on Netflix this week and it is AMAZING. “Never Have I Ever” follows high school sophomore Devi as she tries raise her social status and reputation after a pretty terrible freshman year. I watched the first four episodes while doing my nails one night this week and can’t wait to watch more.
The show has Mindy’s signature humor and charm from “The Mindy Project” but I almost love this show a bit more. There’s something both terrifying and relatable about reliving the high school experience.
AirPods
I’m VERY late to the game on this one, but I finally invested in a pair of AirPods! So far I seriously love them. I ended up purchasing the regular ones, there’s also a Pro model that recently came out that are supposed to be better for working out. I figure I won’t be wearing mine to the gym and didn’t need to dish the extra money, even though I’ve been using the to teach classes on Zoom.
The ear piece feels comfy in my ears and I haven’t had any issues with them falling out while I’m walking –and that’s with a mask also over my ears.
I taught yoga using them as a microphone on Zoom the other day and people said the sound was SO crisp and clear. Yay!
Olive and June manicure kit
This week I did my nails using Olive and June’s Studio Box. The box comes with:
- nail polish remover
- a clean-up brush
- nail clipper
- nail file
- buffer cube
- The Poppy — a handle to add to your polish
- nail polish
- top coat
- cuticle serum
I’m still getting the hang of doing my own nails. My fine motor skills are still a work in progress. The poppy attachment definitely helped me get a better grip but I wouldn’t say it was a total game-changer. I still need to figure out how to perfectly line it up so I have the right angle when I’m painting.
I did really love the cuticle serum — mine have been looking pretty nasty with all this hand washing.
Stay tuned or a full blog post comparing the Olive and June kit vs. the kit from Sunday’s soon!
Whole Foods Lavender Hand Soap
This lavender soap smells SO dreamy.
a new iPhone tripod
I got a new iPhone tripod to use for filming yoga videos and taking pictures and it’s been great. This one is sturdy and has a lot of options as far as height goes. It also comes with a bluetooth remote (which I used in the photos from this blog post!)
The tripod has also be really great to use when I’m FaceTiming friends, keeps my phone propped up!
gorgeous weather
My favorite, favorite thing? The days that have been sunny this week. Even though the vibe in NYC is strange right now, it still felt good to get outside, mask and all, and sit in a park for a few minutes soaking up the sun. The weather is supposed to be gorgeous this weekend so I’m hoping I can find a place to hang in the sun that’s not too crowded.
