I wish I could say excitedly say it’s officially beach season… but due to COVID-19, I probably won’t be making it to a beach this summer. Womp, womp. Even so, I’ve definitely been trying to spend more time outside. And spending more time outside in the sun means girlfriend gotta use all the sunscreen to keep my skin safe.
After hearing a ton of great things about Supergoop and their sunscreen, I bought a few of their products for my trip to Nicaragua back in March. I now definitely get the hype behind this brand. All of their products are reef-safe and free of parabens, oxybenzone, and octinoxate.
I’ve only tried a few of their products but wanted to highlight the ones I’ve loved and will definitely be purchasing again going forward.
Favorite Supergoop Products:
Glowscreen
Website Description: A makeup-gripping primer that leaves a dewy, glowy finish, with sun protection (SPF 40!) and major hydration in the mix.
Why I love it: I love Glowscreen because it’s a one-stop-shop. It gives you sun protection for your face, but also just the right amount of dewy glow like you’ve used a touch of bronzer. I’ve been applying it all over my face after moisturizing and then that’s it. No make-up. You could wear make-up on top of it, but I actually really like how it leaves my skin as is. Right now it also feels pointless to apply a ton of make-up when I’m wearing a mask anytime I’m outside.
Unseen Sunscreen
Website Description: A totally invisible, weightless, scentless sunscreen with SPF 40 that leaves a velvety finish.
Why I love it: Similar to Glowscreen, I’ll apply the Unseen Sunscreen after moisturizing my face. The two big differences between these products are that this one goes on clear and has a slightly matte texture whereas the Glowscreen leaves you more “glowy” and is a bit creamier.
I absolutely love the texture of the Unseen Sunscreen, it’s almost the opposite of oily, which I appreciate. It’s perfect to use under make-up for a layer of sun protection that doesn’t leave you feeling like you’re a ball of grease heading to the beach. I’ve been trying to be better about wearing sun protection every day and not just when I’m heading to the beach or sitting outside directly in the sun. This product has definitely made that easier.
PLAY Everyday Lotion
I bought as part of the Beach Day Set which comes with 2 bottles of the Antioxidant Mist + 1 Everyday Lotion
Website Description: Our original broad-spectrum SPF 30 lotion for face and body.
Why I love it: While there’s nothing innovative about the product design, the PLAY lotion is your “typical lotion sunscreen” but sans harmful chemicals.
During my trip to Nicaragua, I’d start the day applying this lotion and then would continue to apply the below body mist once things got sandy on the beach. I like that it rubs in really well and doesn’t leave you with an awkward layer of white film. I also like that it’s not greasy so I could use it on my face.
PLAY Antioxidant Body Mist
As per above: I bought as part of the Beach Day Set which comes with 2 bottles of the Antioxidant Mist + 1 Everyday Lotion
Website Description: A non-aerosol, water-resistant sunscreen body spray with SPF 30 that leaves skin radiantly glowing.
Why I love it: In general I love the ease of a body spray sunscreen — you can cover more surface area, it’s easier to get your back and it’s easier to apply once you’re already all sandy from the beach. It’s super cool that Supergoop figured out how to make a mister like this one that’s not an aerosol spray. You can also spray the bottle from all angles making it easy to apply everywhere.
I will warn you that this stuff is greasy, but I find that to be the case of all spray products like this one.
I also went through this stuff fairly quickly in Nicaragua, but that could be because I was constantly reapplying throughout the day to avoid getting burnt.
Glow Oil
Website Description: An ultra-hydrating sunscreen body oil that leaves skin glowing and protected, without feeling greasy.
Why I love it: I’ve been using this product in NYC for the last few weeks and I LOVE it. I’ll spritz it on my arms and legs before going for a walk or sitting outside on my roof deck. It leaves my skin hydrated and smells great while also keeping me protected from the sun. I like the feel of it more than the Body Mist, but find the Body Mist easier to apply everywhere for a day at the beach.
I have a feeling I’ll be using this a lot this summer for both a glowy look and every day sun protection.
