When I moved into my current apartment I was 20 years old and still in college.
Let’s just say I made some questionable choices. A red couch even though I HATE the color red. Turquoise walls that are cute in theory but agressive in actuality. The list goes on…
10 years later I now know a lot more about both my own personal style and the functionality I need in my home. Things like a dining room table — I finally won’t have to eat all my meals on my couch!!!!!
Even before I knew I was moving for sure I’ve been collecting new apartment inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram. I’m SO excited to start to bring those ideas to life.
(Here’s a mini-tour of the new apartment if you missed it last week!)
What I’m Gravitating Towards:
I want my new apartment to feel as bright and clean as possible — I’ll probably be keeping most of the walls white with maybe an accent wall behind my bed and one somewhere in the main room.
I’m sure it comes as no surprise to you that I’m really gravitating towards pops of soft pinks and turquoise-y blues. Those have always been my colors. As far as overall aesthetic, I like a modern vibe. In my current apartment, most of the furniture is sleek and lacquered white. That will probably be the same case in the new apartment too.
I’ve also been really inspired by old Los Angeles photos — the beach, lots of palm trees, blues and pinks. It’s a really vague thing to say, but I want the apartment to have a touch of LA vibes to it.
As someone that LOVES watching decorating shows on HGTV, I’m looking forward to designing the space and making this new apartment really feel like mine. Stay tuned for more design inspiration for the individual rooms + updates about how things are coming along!
Your Turn: What do you wish you knew when you moved into your current space? Does anyone else have any major design regrets from the past (like my red couch situation 😂)

So exciting! I love moving to and designing new spaces. I tend to gravitate towards a lot of gray and white, but adding a pop of color (pale pinks and beiges) made the space feel lighter. I have tons of pillows on my bed and couch as well as throw blankets. I also got a huge area rug to break up the space (I live in a studio) and help define the “rooms.” My favorite things in my apartment are my giant photo of downtown behind my bed, my bookshelf (with books arranged by color), and the newest addition, a tiny high top bar table in my kitchen. Happy decorating!

I feel you on the white and gray — I want to keep the space as bright and airy as possible! The rugs are such a great idea, I should’ve done that in my current apartment 😂 but will be doing it for sure in the new one.
Where do you find great throw blankets? I definitely want one for my couch going forward, perfect for cozy reading!

I found some great throws at Crate and Barrel! They add so much texture to the space 🙂

Crate and Barrel FTW! I should’ve bought a throw or two for my current apartment years ago!
