Happy Friday + Halloween weekend!
After feeling rundown earlier this week, I’m grateful to be on the mend. Even though I’m feeling better I’m definitely also excited to lay low this weekend. The extent of my Halloween plans: eat some Reese’s, maybe get a pumpkin donut at Posh Pop, watch my favorite Roseanne Halloween episodes and then watch the WisDem Rocky Horror concert on Zoom.
I’m pretty sure my sickness was just my yearly bout of “My body freaks out, breaks out in hives, and I’m exhausted”, but feeling even remotely sick these days also gave me a lot of anxiety. I ended up going to CityMD for a COVID test to rule that out and for peace of mind.
Honestly, getting a COVID test wasn’t bad! I share this to try and dispel any fear of the nasal swab — I’m such a weenie when it comes to pain and was super nervous! The rapid test barely felt like anything and the results came back in 15 minutes as negative. The PCR test didn’t feel great, but it was over in about 3 seconds. The staff at CityMD took excellent care of me and made the process as painless as possible.
Getting a COVID test, not one of my favorite things 😂 but here are my actual favorite things from the last few weeks:
(Dairy-free + Gluten-free!) Pumpkin Donuts from Posh Pop Bakeshop
Last weekend a friend and I got pumpkin donuts from Posh Pop Bakeshop in the village. I’ve been on the hunt for a dairy-free apple cider donut and WOW was this donut good. The whole bakeshop is gluten-free and many items are dairy-free or vegan.
this cozy, machine washable, throw blanket
I’ve seen many bloggers I follow post about Chappywrap blankets. I’ll be honest, I’ve always kind of rolled my eyes at the concept.
Well, I’ve been influenced. And I’m officially a believer. It’s been chilly this week in NYC and I’ve spent a lot of time lounging on the couch reading or watching TV. This teal blanket I got has been cozy. It’s a perfect size, doesn’t shed everywhere… and it’s my favorite color. All of their blankets are machinable washable and are supposed to last forever.
dinner at my favorite vegan pizza place, Double Zero
If you’re looking for a vegan outdoor dining spot in the East Village, Double Zero has a great set-up with heaters. I went there on a chilly night while a friend was in town a few weeks ago. I was honestly toasty under the heaters 😂
I got the potato pizza this time and it was SO tasty.
the softest pajama pants from Lively
In the spring I was on a quest for great pajama pants that weren’t a gross material, silky, or part of a set. It was a lot harder to find pajama pants than I thought!
I’ve been loving these from Lively, especially now that it’s colder. The fabric is super soft and I almost feel chic lounging around in them. Almost.
ramen from Ippudo
I realize almost everything I’m chatting about today is about the chillier weather in NYC. Oops.
Of course,, chilly weather calls for RAMEN. I only just realized that one of my favorite ramen places, Ippudo, in the East Village delivers to me. I LOVE the vegetarian Nirvana Akamaru with an egg added on… it’s what got for dinner tonight 🙂
this t-shirt from Books are Magic that combines two things I love: Tie-Dye and Books!
Obsessed. And it supports one of the cutest bookstores that’s owned by one of my favorite authors!
the perfect biker shorts
Even though I’ve tried a few brands, I’ve been a bit iffy about the biker short trend. The Everlane bike short has officially convinced me that I like biker shorts. They’re cheaper than the Alo and Lululemon option, but I think still are pretty high quality. They don’t ride up as much as others when I move around, are high waisted and provide just the right amount of compression that they’re flattering but I don’t feel uncomfortable.
Even though it’s getting colder, I have a feeling I’ll still be wearing them around my apartment for sweatier workouts all year ’round.
