It’s already Sunday night? The weekends seem fly by whenever the boy is here. Highlights from the weekend include seeing Despicable Me 2 on Friday, seeing “The Cradle Will Rock” at The City Center Saturday with some of my favorite actors and introducing the boy to Ralph’s Ices aka the best dessert ever.
Tonight I “officially” started HALF MARATHON TRAINING!
Yes, I’m a bit terrified. The Diva Half Marathon is only 12 weeks away which means I have to actually run and start training. My only goal for my first (and maybe last) half marathon is to finish the race sans injury and dying… pretty low expectations but will still require lots of training. I will be loosely following Hal Higdon’s Novice 1/2 Marathon training program. I like that the mileage starts off small and manageable- this week I’m supposed to run 3 miles twice and my long run is 4 miles. That doesn’t sound too bad, right?
Tonight’s 3 mile run wasn’t anything stellar but it was a solid start. Even though it was getting dark out the humidity was still pretty deadly and took a toll on my stamina. Eh, you have to start somewhere, right?
My biggest concern for the race is staying motivated to train. I don’t exactly love running, but I love the thought of running a half marathon and working hard to accomplish something new. I’m hoping to stick to my 2-3 runs a week training plan even when I would rather take a spin class…
Here’s how last week’s workouts went
LAST WEEK
Sunday- Mark Fisher Fitness + possibly barre or spin MFF Done
Monday- 45 min spin + 45 min barre Done!
Tuesday- Mark Fisher Fitness Done!
Wednesday- 1 hour strength training on my own 1 hour Body Pump instead 🙂
Thursday- 45 min spin or barre + trapeze Done
Friday- 45 min spin Done
Saturday- 305 cardio dance MFF instead
THIS WEEK:
Sunday – 3 mile run
Monday – 1 hour Uplift Strength class
Tuesday – 1 hour MFF + run / spin?
Wednesday – run / spin or REST
Thursday- MFF + trapeze
Friday- run / spin
Saturday- rest
The only workouts I actually already have schedules are trapeze and MFF since it’s my last week there and I want to use up all my remaining classes. My body is aching for a rest day so I’m going to see how I feel Wednesday and play it by ear. I also am iffy about scheduling my running days in advanced because weather plays a huge part in whether or not I’ll run- let’s be honest I ain’t running if it’s 90 degrees and humid out. I am however SUPER excited for Uplift’s summer promotion which offers HALF PRICED classes during off-peak hours. Music to my ears because off-peak hours are when I generally work out. I’m excited to spend some quality time at Uplift and not break the bank.
Time to start winding down, gotta be up bright and early for work!
