Over the weekend I attended a launch party + workout event for the K-Deer spring collection.
I haven’t been going to a ton of events these days. My evenings have been monopolized by grad school or the rare dinner with friends. And I’ll be honest, I don’t love feeling like I have to get dolled up because I’m being photographed while working out. If I’m going to workout, I want to werk-out. Not look cute for the cameras, y’know?
There was something that felt extra special about this event — and I’m not just saying that because we got a super cute outfit as part of it.
Wearing the sneaker length “Palm Springs” print.
I’ve been a fan of K.Deer leggings since I got my first pair a few years ago. They’re high-waisted with just the right amount of compression to make you feel held in but not like a sausage. The sneaker length is great for fellow petite friends. They hit right at the ankle.
What I didn’t know is that each pair of their signature stripped leggings is named after an inspiring woman and supports a cause. At least 5% of proceeds goes directly to causes that support the greater community.
At the event founder Kristine Molly Deer talked about the Molly Stripe which is part of the spring collection. Kristine talked about her own battle with depression and anxiety on top of running a successful business. The Molly Stripe in particular supports Bring Change to Mind, a movement working to support and fight against the mental health stigma.
I wasn’t asked to write about this event, this post isn’t sponsored nor am I dropping affiliate links. But I’m writing about it because:
1. I had a good time and think the leggings are cute
2. More importantly it was a reminder of why I really do what I do.
I have a platform to talk about real things. My own struggles and wins, up and downs. I get to share to share my own story as well as other people’s stories. And I get to talk about brands that are doing great things like K-Deer.
The event ended up being about connecting. Meeting other people in the wellness blogging / instagram space. I always joke that I’m not the friendliest person, I feel SO awkward and uncomfortable in social situations. But on Saturday I did fight through the awkward to introduce myself, chat with the people around me, and simply connect. And isn’t that something we all crave in this hyper-digital age?
THE BODY w/ Amanda Kloots Review
What would a yoga pant event be without a workout? Amanda Kloots totally kicked our asses with her new class: The Body. No seriously, my glutes hurt when I had to climb stairs at Grand Central later that day. So. Sore.
I’ve taken class with Amanda before at other events and I’m always AMAZED by her energy. Girl, teach me your ways!
The Body is all about getting you out of your head and into your body. Hence the name The Body. In essence it reminded me of Zen Combat at Equinox (<— I took this class in 2012. Not sure if it’s still a thing but I used to LOVE it!). The idea is you have to really pay attention to sequence otherwise you’ll get totally lost. No time to think about what’s for lunch or all the shit on your to-do list. You gotta FOCUS.
Think LONG combination moves where you have to remember a sequence of 12 moves in a row.
It was hard both physically and mentally — my brain can no longer pick up choreography and workout sequences like it used to 😂 but it was also a lot of fun. Check out The Body (and Amanda’s other classes) at Studio-B, schedule here.

i have been dyyyyying to take her class omg i am so jealous!!!! and those leggings are CUTE. i’m like you when i go to events (or even why i don’t go, rather) and i’m so freakin’ awkward. i just started a new job though and since i won’t actually be working closely with anyone in my office, my only chance of getting to know them is through social events at the office. we had a ‘thirsty thursday’ thing and i was literally sweating trying to introduce myself and make my way into conversations with a plastic cup of wine…it was hilarious. haha good for us though for breaking through the uncomfort(ability?) and making new connections!!
